Mantling

Add mantling stun

When near a cliff, you are able to mantle. Mantling allows you to climb up ledges when near without any stamina cost whatsoever. Mantling allows you to climb up heights that are not possible without. Mantling does not consume stamina on the ground.

When mantling, your character will pull themselves up the ledge for around half a second. During this, you are not actionable and are locked out from performing anything. Once executed, you will be in a grounded state. In order to mantle, a ledge needs to be at least six units long. The maximum distance you can be before mantling is 212 units.

The time for your character to scale the wall depends on the height of the ledge:

  • At heights ending at 32 units, the climb up takes ~0.2 seconds.
  • At heights starting at 32 units and ending at 96 units, the climb up takes 0.3 seconds
  • At heights starting at 64 units and ending at 128 units, the climb up takes 0.4 seconds
  • At heights starting at 96 units and ending at 160 units, the climb up takes 0.5 seconds

Mantling can be a burden while moving around the map, since it kills momentum. To avoid this, try not to hold the jump key. Mantling can also be a burden while trying to wall jump; to circumvent this, look away from the wall (at least 63.5° off the wall).

To mantle, be near a cliff. Hold space and you will automatically mantle. If you are in the air, hold space. Inputs: (Hold the jump key near a ledge)
