Transit Lines

Transit Lines
Tech Type Universal
Difficulty Basic Mechanics
Stamina 0, -11)
Character Dependent No
Inputs Hold the jump key near a transit line

Transit Lines2) are the main mode of transportation to and from the lanes. There are three transit lines, sorted by name and colour:

  • York St, whose primary colour is yellow,
  • Greenwich3), whose primary colour is green,
  • Broadway, whose primary colour is blue.

These three transit lines go through each of the three lanes, reaching from base to base. The order of the transit lanes depends on your team:

  • The Amber Hand has York St on their left.
  • The Sapphire Flame has Broadway on their left.

You are able to latch onto and ride the transit line forwards by holding the jump key or the dedicated zipline button4) while on the ground or in the air for 0.175 seconds5).

  • If you have been in active combat (hit by an enemy player), you will be locked out from riding the transit line for three seconds.
  • You can be shot off the transit line by enemy players.
    • If shot off, you will suffer a three-second stun and lose 15% of your maximum health.
    • After 2 seconds of riding on the transit line, you gain stun protection and are unable to be shot off6).
  • You can drop from the transit line by either pressing the jump key or the crouch key:
    • Pressing the jump key will cause you to jump off, performing a grounded jump and taking a stamina bar.
    • Pressing the crouch key will cause you to drop off, taking no stamina.
      • Dropping off using duck applies a buff that nullifies air drag for two seconds, which is useful in movement techniques like Zip Dash and Zipline Momentum Conservation.7)
      • Dropping off refreshes your double jump and air dash, allowing you to use them again if used before.

Stamina Refunds

A short clip showcasing a character abusing stamina refunds.

If you detach from the transit line and reattach within 0.2 seconds, you will receive a stamina refund8) and gain a stamina bar for free. This mechanic was intended to allow players to jump off a transit line and attach to another without stamina cost, but can be abused to gain stamina for no cost [Citation Needed].

This can be done by quickly pressing the jump key twice if you have the zipline keybind bound to the same key, or quickly plinking9) the two keys if zipline is bound to a different key.10)

Transit Line Speed

The speed you travel on each transit line is based on the lane and the number of enemy Base Guardians killed:

  • The inner lane travels at 693 u/s.
  • The outer lanes travel at 957 u/s
  • On inner lane straights with no enemy base guardians, you travel at ~1519 u/s.
  • On outer lane straights with no enemy base guardians, you travel at ~2093 u/s.

Zipline Speed Boost

By pressing F on a transit line, you will activate the Zipline Speed Boost. When this happens, your speed is increased while riding the transit lines.

When using the Zipline Speed Boost, you travel at 1589 u/s (2417 u/s when Base Guardians are down) on inner lanes and 2193 u/s (~3338 u/s when the Base Guardians are down) on outer lanes lanes.

AKA Ziplines (Both Transit Line and Zipline are official terms to refer to the same thing; in-game, they use both (The term Transit Line is found in the in-game tutorial, while Zipline is found in abilities such as the Zipline Speed Boost) )
3)
AKA Park
4)
Both the jump key and the zipline key are set (by default) to the SPACE key

7)
Dropping off the transit line is often better, since you get access to the air drag buff, which allows for fast air movement around the map

9)
A term often found in fighting games, done by pressing two buttons in quick succession
10)
Using the first method is usually easier and more consistent
